What is Viral Load (HIV-RNA level)?
- The term "viral load" refers to the number of viruses
in 1 ml of blood plasma.
- Generally, the lower the viral load, the better.
- Viral load can be an index for starting medication, and for evaluation
of the drug effectiveness.
- For those under HIV treatment, the target viral load shouldbe UD*.
- The viral load can fluctuate a bit, so make sure to compare the
data from previous tests.
*Undetectable (UD) refers to the level
at which the viral load is too low to measure in a viral load test.
